New London Ranked High in Latest Girls Basketball Poll

NEW LONDON, CT — Capital Prep retained its stronghold on girls high school basketball in Connecticut, topping the weekly sportswriters' poll once again.

The Trailblazers, who have not lost an in-state regular season game since Dec. 15, 2011, opened this season with four straight victories.

New London captured the number two spot, opening with six consecutive wins.

The top 10 teams and their records through Jan. 1 are:
