Obituary: Cursie Mae Griffin, 61, of New London

Curt worked at Electric Boat as a Maintenance Cleaner and was a volunteer at St. James Church food pantry for 10 years.

NEW LONDON, CT - (From Byles Memorial Home) Cursie Mae Griffin, 61, of Hempstead St. New London, went into the open arms of the Lord, her parents and two older brothers on June 15, 2020. She was born October 14, 1958 in Hampton, SC to the late Ida Mae Bostick and Leon Griffin, Sr.

Her early school years were in Estill, SC. The family moved to CT in 1970. She resided in New London until the time of her death. She worked at Electric Boat as a Maintenance Cleaner.

If you knew Curt, you knew how she was. Never biting her tongue. She would tell you off if need be. We all loved her and took her as she was.

Curt was a volunteer at St. James Church food pantry for 10 years. She was a faithful volunteer. She would go to the pantry even if she wasn’t feeling well.

She took care of her nephews and nieces when they were growing up. She kept them straight. They all loved her very much. She lived life on her terms.

When you get tired, it’s time to rest. And now she is resting with the Lord. She was predeceased by her parents and her two brothers, Leon Griffin, Jr. and James Lee Griffin aka Ghais Yamini.

She was survived by her two sisters, Diane Griffin of New London, CT and Sherri Biro of Oakdale, CT and one brother, John Bryant of Estill, SC. , Uncle Edward Bostick of New London and Aunt Virgina Bostick of Groton. She leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Due to Covid-19, the family will have a memorial service at a later date. Burial will be at Mill Pond Cemetery in Scotia, SC. Byles Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
