Thinking About Swimming At L+M Beach Today? Don't.

Ledge Light Health District found high bacterial concentrations at L+M Beach on Pequot Avenue.

NEW LONDON, CT—After water testing on Monday July 1, the Ledge Light Health District said on Thursday, July 4 that elevated bacterial levels were found at L&M Beach on Pequot Avenue. A wading and swimming advisory was posted at the location.

The LLHD reports its beach water testing results on its website. It also notes that sampling data may be affected by a number of factors.

"Please be aware that rain or other contaminating events occurring before the Monday and Wednesday morning sampling can lead to elevated bacterial counts, especially in bathing areas with stormwater runoff (storm drain pipes and/or extensive impervious surfaces) or low water turnover (inland bathing areas)," the health district has posted on its website.
