Where's The Best Place to Watch Sailfest Fireworks?

Here's a few ideas of where to view the best fireworks in the region, which kick off at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 13 as part of Sailfest.

NEW LONDON, CT-The fireworks extravaganza set for Saturday July 13 at 9 p.m., part of Sailfest and sponsored by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino and synchronized to music on K-Hits FM 100.9 draws tens of thousands. But there's room for everyone to see the stunning pyrotechnics!

Fort Trumbull in New London, Fort Griswold in Groton, some parking lots in Groton and beaches, like Eastern Point. And of course all along Thames Street in Groton.

But remember that streets close as early as 3 p.m.

On its Facebook page, Groton City police shared the following regulations:

• Parking will not be permitted on Thames Street beginning at 8 a.m. and on surrounding streets beginning at 3 p.m.

• Thames Street and portions of Monument Street and Park Avenue will become a pedestrian mall at 6 p.m.
• Bridge Street and Allen Street will be barricaded at 6 p.m. Vehicles in violation will be towed and stored at the owners' expense.

• It is illegal for residents to utilize an item to obstruct City roadways.
Police also added a "reminder that Clarence B. Sharp Highway will only have one lane available. Guests can detour onto Rainville Avenue to US Route 1 and onto Thomas Road to Route 1 to avoid tie-ups. The Bridge Street on ramp is once again open."
