2 Men Accused Of 3 Commercial Burglaries In Shelton: Police

Shelton police said the two were responsible for three break-ins between December and February.

SHELTON, CT — Two men have been arrested in connection with two nighttime burglaries in Shelton between December and February, according to Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.

Arrested on warrants this week were Adis Kacar, 36, of Bridgeport, and Daniel Girdzis, also 36, of East Haven.

The two are accused of breaking into a Cumberland Farms on River Road in December; a Dunkin' donut shop on Bridgeport Avenue in February; and Ardo Liquors on River Road also in February.

"In all the burglaries forced entry was made by prying the front door and cash and cigarettes were stolen," Shelton police wrote on Facebook. "Similar burglaries were committed in several area towns in the same time frame."

Shelton detectives worked with several Fairfield and New Haven County police departments on the cases.

Kacar was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of larceny, three counts of criminal mischief and conspiracy.

Girdzis was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, and two counts of conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.

Both are scheduled to appear in court at later dates, and Shelton police reminds readers that the charges "are merely accusations, and the [defendants are] presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
