Car Burglary Arrest Made In Shelton: PD
An 18-year-old pretended to be 16 when he was confronted by officers, according to police.
SHELTON, CT — An 18-year-old man was arrested Jan. 23 after he attempted to break into a car in Shelton and pretended to be a juvenile, police said.
Officers arrived to the area of Mill and Judson streets around 4:30 a.m. after they were called about a person trying to break into a vehicle parked in a driveway.
Officers found and detained three males in the area who were wearing black face masks and sweatshirts.

A homeowner shared surveillance video with police that showed that one of the males walked into the driveway and pulled on vehicle handles, police said.
Carlos Matos, 18, of Bridgeport pretended to be 16-years-old and handed officers his phone and told them to call his mother, according to police. The contact name was "mom," but police determined it wasn't Matos'smother.

Matos was charged with fourth-degree larceny, interfering with police and criminal attempt at third-degree burglary. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
