Condominium Fire In Shelton Displaces 3 Families: FD

No injuries were reported in the Tuesday afternoon fire on Mica Court in Shelton.

SHELTON, CT — A three-unit condominium complex on Mica Court in Shelton was damaged in a Tuesday afternoon fire, resulting in the temporary displacement of three families, according to Shelton fire officials.

The fire was reported just after 5 p.m., and as firefighters arrived at the complex, a "large body of fire" was visible coming out of the middle unit.

"Within minutes, fire had extended through the attic of both adjoining units," Shelton fire officials wrote on Facebook. "All occupants were able to successfully evacuate the 3 units prior to the arrival of FD."

Firefighters had to cut holes in the roof of the structure to help contain the fire and keep it from spreading, and had to use "5 attack lines and 1 aerial monitor" to battle it.

"Multiple crews operated for an extended period of time extinguishing hotspots and opening void spaces to look for hidden pockets of fire," officials said, adding that it took about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Shelton Fire Marshal’s Office.
