Tornado Confirmed In Connecticut Tuesday, NWS Says: UPDATE
Some parts of Connecticut got a good soaking during the thunderstorm and a tornado is confirmed to have touched down too.

The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday afternoon that an "EF0 tornado briefly touched down just west of Ashford Lake in Ashford, CT on July 17th, 2018." The weather service sent crews to inspect if a tornado occurred in Windham County. A Severe Tornado Warning was issued for the county around 4 p.m. Tuesday as severe thunderstorms rolled through the state.
The fast-moving storm knocked out power to several thousand residents and caused significant damage.
Some parts of Connecticut saw more than two inches of rain during Tuesday's thunderstorms. At one point the storm knocked out power to more than 7,000 electric customers.

Heavy rains have closed some swimming areas across the state.
