Dates Set for Shelton Curbside Leaf Collection

Only brown paper biodegradable bags will be picked up.

SHELTON, CT — The city will collect properly bagged leaves at the curbside beginning the week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 4, according to Shelton Highway Superintendent George Stachowicz.

Curbside collection will continue through the week of Dec. 5 through Dec. 9, under the following guidelines:

  • Only brown paper biodegradable bags will be picked up.
  • Bagged leaves should be placed at the curbside on the regular trash collection day.
  • Please be sure to keep leaf bags apart from your regular trash.
  • Bags should only contain leaves and not grass clippings, sticks, rocks etc. Bags containing these items will not be accepted and will be left at curb.
  • In the event of a snowstorm, leaf bags should be left out at the curbside. They will be collected as soon as possible.
Shelton also has a compost site on Willoughby Road (next to Elizabeth Shelton School), which is open Monday through Saturday. Click here for more information and to view the site's schedule.
