DERBY, CT — Derby Fire Chief Robert Laskowski resigned from his job Wednesday before he was scheduled to face a disciplinary hearing for a Facebook post on his personal account.

Laskowski was listening to New York City Police radio June 1 as they dealt with protesters. He commented that "They need a few Blackhawks with snipers to solve the problem!" according to the Valley Independent Sentinel.

He told the Valley Independent that he didn't mean for police to shoot protesters and that he was commenting on how the situation was out of control.
