Derby City Hall Closed After Mayor Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan said he has cold-like symptoms and will be self-isolating until medically-cleared to resume normal activites.

DERBY, CT — Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus Monday. City Hall will be closed Tuesday and undergo a deep cleaning. The Naugatuck Valley Health District will conduct contact tracing.

Dziekan said he started feeling "under the weather" Friday and that he developed a low-grade fever Sunday night. He decided to get tested Monday. He has cold-like symptoms, he said on Facebook.

"I will be following the CDC guidelines related to self-quarantine and isolation and will not be present at City Hall or any events around Derby until and when I am medically cleared to do so. Thank you for your understanding," he said on Facebook.
