Missing Shelton Dog Charlie Reunited With Family

Charlie is on the mend after missing for five weeks.

SHELTON, CT — Charlie the 1-year-old bulldog was found after missing for more than a month. He went missing during the Shelton fireworks show July 3 and many community members spread the word and helped search for the missing pup.

"The BEST news ever!!! Charlie is Safe! He was found in a ravine near Bpt Ave by a young couple!!Welcome home Charlie!!" The Shelton Animal Shelter posted on Facebook.

Charlie's family took him to the fireworks show and he became scared and slipped his harness.

Charlie is on the mend. He got checked out by a veterinarian Wednesday and was dehydrated and had lost 19 pounds, but is otherwise healthy, said owner Aimee Artes. He'll get checked out again Thursday.

"The support of the community and people around the world has been overwhelming and has helped us remain positive during the last 5 weeks," Artes said.
