Gioiellio to Lay Out Fiscal Policy

Mayoral Candidate David Gioiello has enlisted a former comptroller and former city mayor to help with his fiscal plan for the city.

Gioiello said he will announce his fiscal policy Monday at 12 p.m. outside of City Hall, with Wayne Bragg and Michael Pacowta.

Gioiello said he is "committed to maintaining a stable tax rate and has promised to work for no pay if he cannot deliver a budget for 2014/2015 with no mill rate increase; supporting our education system; holding all City employees to the highest ethical standards; holding Department Heads accountable for meeting performance standards; and to being a full time Mayor by not engaging in any outside employment."

Bragg is a member of Shelton's Apportionment & Taxation Board, and is the former comptroller of Sikorsky Aircraft. Michael Pacowta is a member of Shelton's Board of Education, a certified public accountant, and is a former city mayor.

Gioiello's opponent, Republican Mayor Mark Lauretti, is going for his 12th two-year term. But one of the longest-serving volunteers is Democratic Board of Aldermen member John "Jack" Finn, who is running for his 15th two-year-term. Finn is the lone democrat on the Board of Aldermen.

Gioiello, chairman of the Shelton Democratic Town Committee, is a Shelton resident for more than 30 years and has a BS in Physics from the University of Detroit as well as a MS in Occupational Health from Wayne State University.

He is a former Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher;  youth soccer coach; small business co-owner; and "has worked for over 40 years to protect employees from injury and illness in the work place." He is also a  Trustee and Treasurer of a Nation Foundation that provides scholarships deserving students.
