Home Badly Damaged In Shelton Fire Sunday
The homeowner suffered a minor burn to his hand while attempting to extinguish the fire, officials said.

SHELTON, CT — A Green Rock home was badly damaged in a fire Sunday morning, fire officials said. Around 11 a.m. fire crews responded to a basement fire on Green Rock.
Firefighters encountered significant smoke and the two occupants had exited the home safely, fire officials said.
A large volume of fire was found in the mechanical room which had spread to the ceiling, officials said. The fire didn't spread to the first and second floors, but there was a significant amount of heat and smoke damage.

Approximately 30 firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes.
The Stratford Fire Department assisted with the blaze while Monroe, Derby and Nichols fire departments provided station coverage.

No fire personnel were injured during operations, however, the homeowner suffered a minor burn to his hand while attempting to extinguish the fire, fire officials said. The home is not habitable and the Fire Marshal’s Office is working on the cause of the fire.
