Labor Day 2018: What's Open, Closed In Shelton/Derby

Here are the closings to be aware of during the end-of-summer holiday.

SHELTON, CT — Whether you're ready or not, the unofficial end of summer is approaching. The Labor Day holiday weekend might be some consolation for the end of your summer relaxation, but that means some services will be shut down for the long weekend of Sept. 1-3.

Shelton City Hall will be closed Sept. 3.

There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Labor Day in Shelton. The pickup schedule will be pushed back a day for all residents. Friday's trash pickup will occur on Saturday.

The transfer station and city yard will be closed on Labor Day.

Derby City Hall will be closed Labor Day and like Shelton garbage and recycling pickup will be delayed one day.
