Letter: Former State Rep. Endorses Cabrera For 17th District

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Jorge Cabrera for State Senator for the 17th District. Over the past several years Jorge has become a real friend to me and my family. I’ve seen him at numerous local events where he is there to listen to concerns and play an active role in our community. I have no doubt that he is the kind of person that will not only unite us, work collaboratively and build consensus, but most importantly, will do what is right and fair.

Working families here in Ansonia and Derby should be looking for leaders like Jorge Cabrera. I believe he will fight for funding to spur economic development, lower prescription drug prices and make healthcare more affordable and accessible.

Jorge has already demonstrated that he will fight for working individuals. When Stop & Shop workers were struggling to protect their healthcare for their families and themselves, he was there with them standing up for what was only fair and just. Jorge fully understands that most people are only one medical emergency away from financial ruin. He will make healthcare costs and availability a priority.

Jorge has a vision for igniting economic development. The Waterbury Train Line is an important project. I have no doubt that Jorge will work collaboratively and collectively with all local, state and federal partners to identify funding to upgrade this Metro North line. Upgrading the line will ensure that small cities and towns, like Ansonia and Derby, will be more connected with the rest of the state and will allow for the possibility of more foot traffic to our downtown areas. This improvement project could be a powerful economic tool for our communities.

Please join me and my family in voting for Jorge Cabrera on Row 3A on November 3rd. I believe he is the choice for all of us here in the Valley.
