Popular TV News Anchor Leaving Connecticut Station

CT Style anchor Teresa Dufour is leaving WTNH-TV after 11 years.

CONNECTICUT — Teresa Dufour, the popular "CT Style" anchor at WTNH-TV, is not renewing her contract and will leave the station after 11 years, she confirmed to Patch.

"After a number of discussions and meetings with WTNH, the role they have offered me doesn't align with my career goals or ambitions," she said in an email. "The way people consume their media has changed quite a bit since I started at Channel 8, and I want to make sure I change and evolve with it."

Dufour's last day will be June 30, and she said she will announce her future plans soon. The Laurel was the first to report the news of her leaving the New Haven-based station.

Dufour is a UConn graduate and native of Middlebury, and before joining WTNH, she was a traffic reporter at WFSB-TV for three years.

Prior to her years in Connecticut news, Dufour also spent time as an anchor and reporter in Louisiana at KTVE and KARD.

Over the years, she has reported on dozens of fun stories, but in 2016, at age 36, Dufour chronicled a touching one, her hip replacement surgery and recovery. She decided to have the operation she had after seven years of pain in her hip.

The surgery was needed because she learned that as a child, her hip had not developed properly, which led to hip dysplasia.

While her recovery included weeks of physical therapy, as a mother of two youngsters, Dufour successfully got back on her feet and is able to play with them.
