SHELTON, CT — Pierogi lovers in the Valley and surrounding area will now be able to get their fix at a permanent location. The popular Pierogies On Wheels food truck now has a new name and storefront location in Shelton. The Rogi Shoppe opened in late July in downtown Shelton.

The shop is the product of Elzbieta Nogas and her son Mateusz and daughter Magdalena. The storefront location brings the original vision for the family to life.

“We have been considering a storefront location before even beginning the food truck,” Mateusz Nogas said. “The initial cost for starting a restaurant/store-front is a little high therefore we started with a food truck to see how it would go and build from there.”

The coronavirus pandemic made business challenging because the food truck is normally booked throughout the summer, but it gave the shop time to plan for the future and get the storefront location up and running, Nogas said.

They chose Shelton because there is a lot of business development occurring in the city and the food truck has been part of many events at Veterans Memorial Park.

The storefront menu will have all the same pierogies as the truck, plus a few other options, Nogas said. The red truck won’t disappear, but it will have a slightly different logo. It is available for catered events and those interested can email realrogies@gmail.com for more information.

The Rogi Shoppe is mainly a takeout restaurant, but there are a few tables and bar stools. It is located at 55 Bridge St. Unit 1R.
