Shelton Breast Surgeon Re-Elected Officer of Arts Organization
Camelia Lawrence Volunteers to Help Adult and Youth Arts Programming in Greater Bridgeport

City Lights Gallery, an arts organization located in Downtown Bridgeport, has announced its slate of officers for its 2020 Board of Directors. Brad Berman, Esquire of Berman Legal LLC in Westport was elected President; John Brannelly of The Clearity Foundation was re-elected Vice President; Rev. Sara D. Scott-Smith of United Congregational Church was elected Treasurer; and Camelia Lawrence, MD, FACS of Hartford HealthCare's Hospital of Central CT & Midstate Medical Center re-elected Secretary. They join a dozen other volunteers who serve as board members to help guide the organization's art programs and services in the community.
"City Lights thrives due to the volunteer leadership these creative community leaders provide to help implement our 2020 arts programming with fundraising," stated Suzanne Kachmar, Executive Director of City Lights Gallery, City Lights Vintage and the Bridgeport Art Trail. "The arts are the backbone of our culture and we help grow in Bridgeport and beyond through the Bridgeport Art Trail with the help of these dynamic volunteers," Kachmar added.
Their nomination was unanimously approved by the board of directors at its recent meeting led by Kelly O’Donnell of Pullman & Comley who served as president for the past three years. She will remain on the board. Other members of the City Lights Board of Directors include: Gail Buccino, James A. Connelly, Claribel Correano, George Dragone, Ann Franzen, Courtney George, Esquire, Steve Gerber, Jeff Goldwater, Meredith Guinness, Sabine Kuczo, Michael Riley, Esquire, Preston Tisdale, Esquire and Bruce Williams.

City Lights's next show, Nakupenda art exhibit, is opening Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. It will feature drumming and storytelling by Gina LeVon Simpson and a presentation by Rev. Ina Anderson. Nakupenda is the Swahili term for 'I love you.' It is an art immersion that depicts love throughout the African diaspora.
Now located at 265 Golden Hill Street in Downtown Bridgeport, City Lights Gallery presents local, regional and emerging artists to Bridgeport and its visitors. The gallery hosts various community-based exhibits and events such as: Artists' Receptions, Arts/crafts classes, Open Studio Workshop, Lunch Time Art Demonstrations and other special events.
