Shelton Business Temporarily Laying Off Workers
The company is temporarily laying off more than 50 employees due to circumstances caused by the new coronavirus pandemic, officials said.

SHELTON, CT — A global manufacturer is temporarily laying off more than 50 employees at its headquarters in Shelton due to the new coronavirus pandemic, according to officials. Precision Resource – Connecticut Division, 25 Forest Parkway in Shelton, is laying off 51 employees for at least two weeks, according to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice that was sent to local and state officials.
Officials said the layoff is expected to last from April 6 to April 17, but can be extended. The affected employees were notified on April 1.
“Given the temporary and expected short-term nature of the layoff, we are uncertain as to whether notice is required under state of federal law, but are providing this notice in any event as a precaution,” officials wrote in the WARN notice. “Notice was given to employees on April 1, 2020, which was the earliest we were able to provide it. Additional notice was not possible due to the sudden and drastic reduced customer demand resulting from the unforeseeable business circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented government actions to contain the virus.”
