Christopher Paul Pranger, 44, of Crescent Street, Shelton, is charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
Police said Pranger grabbed a woman by the neck and pushed her down during an argument Dec. 8.
His bond was set at $1,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
