Jonathan M. Lisej, 23, of Howe Ave., is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Police said Lisej put a plastic bag over the woman's head during an argument until she had trouble breathing.
He was arrested by warrant and his bond was set at $5,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
