Shelton Police K9 Retires After Partner Fired

K9 Stryker was retired from the department after his human partner was fired.

SHELTON, CT — Shelton K9 Stryker retired from the police department after K9 Officer Dan Loris was fired from the department.

Loris and Stryker worked together since 2014 and Loris purchased Stryker from the department for $1, according to the Shelton Herald. Loris was fired after an internal investigation into photos of police officers changing clothes in public; the police union plans to file a grievance over the firing.

The Shelton Police Department will rely on state police if a K9 unit is needed, said Chief Shawn Sequeira.
