Shelton Police Officer Fired: Chief
The officer was fired after she lied during an internal affairs investigation, according to the police chief. Her union denies it.
SHELTON, CT — A Shelton police officer was fired after she lied during an internal affairs investigation, according to the department’s chief.
Police Chief Shawn Sequeira said Caroline Moretti lied more than 20 times during the internal investigation, which centered on photos posted to the police union’s Facebook page of officers changing outside, according to the Shelton Herald.
In the termination letter Sequeira wrote that Moretti staged a photo where she undressed down to her bra in the police department parking lot and had someone take a picture of her with her own phone. The letter was obtained by WTNH.

“Your actions were intended to create a false narrative that officers were forced by the administration to change in the parking lot with no other alternative. This was untrue and gave poor and negative perception of the Shelton Police Department,” Sequeira wrote. “While we respect your right to express concern over workplace conditions, you do not have a right to lie.”
Police union attorney Barbara Resnick said there was no truth to the allegations about lying and that a grievance would be filed over the firing, according to the Herald.
