Shelton's Indian Well State Park Reopened for Swimming

The beach was closed Tuesday due to elevated levels of bacteria in the water.

SHELTON, CT - Indian Well State Park in Shelton was reopened for swimming Wednesday, June 8, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced.

The beach, along with four other inland beaches around the state, was closed Tuesday due to elevated levels of non-disease carrying bacteria in the water, following Sunday's heavy rains. Excessive stormwater runoff from those showers caused the increase in bacteria.

During the traditional swimming season, waters are tested continually throughout the state and Connecticut shoreline to ensure safety.
