Upcoming Route 34 Closure Announced

DERBY, CT — Route 34 will be closed to traffic between Olivia Street and North Avenue between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19 to install concrete at the Roosevelt Drive pumping station.

The closure will happen from 8 p.m. Aug. 16 to Aug. 19 at 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured. Eastbound traffic will turn right onto Route 111 South, turn left onto Route 110 East and left onto Bridge Street. Thru traffic traveling West should follow detour signs, turn left onto Bridge Street, turn right onto Route 110 West and turn right onto Route 111 North.

Local traffic will be permitted along the closed section of Route 34.

Precast concrete structures will be delivered August 16 to the site. Closing down the road will allow the installation to happen quickly, the Water Pollution Control Authority said.
