Winter Team State Championship History: Derby, Shelton
Derby and Shelton high schools have accounted for nine state team championships in winters past.
DERBY-SHELTON, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.
To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the nine CIAC winter team titles won by Derby and Shelton high schools in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).
