2018 BWF To Present Three Scholarships At Conference Oct. 30th
The 2018 Business Women's Forum will present $2,000 scholarships to three Post University female students during their full-day conference

The 2018 Business Women’s Forum (BWF), will present three $2,000 scholarships to Ms. Ronnica Bartley of Manchester, Jamaica, Ms. Brianna Root of Bristol, Connecticut, and Ms. Tong Yu of Wuhan, Hubei, China, all of whom are students in the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University in Waterbury. The awards will be presented at the 36th BWF leadership conference, Connecticut’s longest running leadership conference, on Tuesday, October 30th, 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.
The conference will also feature Bethenny Frankel, creator of Skinnygirl cocktails, TV talk show host and star, plus motivational speaker and actress Linda Larsen, BSW, MFA, CPAE, empowering workshops and a high energy cocktail reception. Erica Peryga, Dean of Students at Post University and a BWF Scholarship Committee Chairperson and Board Member, stated, “The Committee received impressive nominations for this year’s scholarships, so much so that we chose to acknowledge three outstanding members of the Post student body instead of one. I’m sure each will achieve great success in the future.”
Ms. Ronnica Bartley is an innovator at heart who is self-driven, practical, and creative. She is an academic scholar who has been recognized for her achievements in management, campus participation, grade point average, and leadership qualities. As a member of Christian organizations, she has been serving the children of her community as a teacher, mentor, and advisor. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Legal Studies at Post University and continues to play an active part in her school’s culture by joining associations and clubs where can best aid Post University in its mission To Make it Personal. Ms. Bartley’s mantra is “Life doesn’t always go as planned so keep life’s surprises in your plan, and make the small steps and setbacks worth the effort by getting back up again”

Ms. Brianna Root is receiving her second scholarship from the BWF non-profit organization in 2018. Currently a senior at Post University, she also received a BWF scholarship in 2016. For the past four years, she has been studying for a dual degree in Sports Management and Communication and Media Studies while minoring in art. Ms. Root is a member of the University’s Sustainability Committee, works as a Resident Assistant, and serves as president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She also competes on the University’s Division II Volleyball team. She commented, “I’m very excited and honored to win this prestigious award. In December I will be going to the Major League Winter Meetings to try and gain more knowledge of the sports business world. I love to learn and will continue to work hard and push myself to become the best I can in the business world representing women everywhere.”
BWF scholarship winner for 2018, Ms. Tong Yu is a passionate international student from China with an entrepreneurial spirit. Her goal is to create her own coffee shop in China upon graduation from Post University’s Bachelor of Science in Management program. Currently, she is working as a student tutor in the Learning Center and as an intern at the Campus Store. Ms. Yu has been a member of the Honors Program since 2016. In addition to her studies, she regularly volunteers at a nursing home and hopes to enhance the quality of life of others. She expresses confidence in her chosen field of study in Management and believes it will provide her with many opportunities for growth.

The thriving BWF, a non-profit under the auspices of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is led by female executives dedicated to the professional and personal growth of working women. BWF’s mission is to raise scholarship funds for female Post University students pursuing a degree in business, and over the past 35 years, in excess of $190,000 in scholarships has been granted.
This year’s highly-informative conference will include two keynote speakers, four professional development workshops, two speed networking workshops, day-long networking opportunities, breakfast, lunch and a high energy closing reception with hors d’oeuvres, beverages, raffle and door prizes.
The 2018 Business Women’s Forum (BWF) is being presented by the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Onyx II Fine Jewelers and Wells Fargo.
Tickets are currently available at $195/person for the full-day conference which will include the keynote and motivational presentations, workshops, day-long networking, breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception.
