Southbury Police Search For Purse Thieves

The two female suspects are accused of teaming up in late-June to distract the victim and steal a purse from a supermarket shopping cart.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Southbury police are asking for the public's help in identifying two women accused of stealing a purse from a shopping cart at the Shop Rite on Main Street South in Southbury in late June.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m., and one of the suspects created a diversion while the other stole the medium-sized, lime green purse from the victim's cart, police said.

One of the suspects is described as having dark hair, and she was wearing a black shirt; camo pants; black sneakers; and had a black backpack with her. See surveillance photos in the below Facebook post.

The other suspect is described as also having dark hair, with a tattoo on left her left shoulder; she had on eyeglasses; and was wearing a pink tank top; white shorts; and white sneakers. She was carrying a black bag with her.

"It was later discovered the purse was recovered at the Westchester Mall, 125 Westchester Ave, White Plains, NY 10601 with two credit/debit cards and approximately $80.00 cash removed from it," Southbury police wrote.
