Day Care Center Approved In Southbury: Report

Center to be located in the building of a former restaurant in Southbury.

Southbury’s planning commission approved a permit and site plan for a new day care center called the Nature of Learning Child Care Center.

Michele Zurko-Smith, Oxford resident, wants to run the center where Jordan’s Pizza Restaurant used to be on 900 Main St. South, according to the Republican-American.

Zurko-Smith had originally gotten approval for an adult day care center, however, had trouble finding business and came up with the revised plan, the Rep-Am reports.

She has experience from running a child day care business out of her home in the past. The state still needs to approve the daycare.

There would be capacity for up to 52 children. The building would use 10-15 parking spaces and the only modifications to the exterior would include a fenced-in area for children to play, the Rep-Am reports.
