Diner in Southbury Receives 'Best in New England' Title

Connecticut has certainly made its mark on the New England dining scene. Food and travel writer Mike Urban, author of The New England Diner Cookbook, picked his top favorite diners in New England.

Out of the 15 he chose, three were from Connecticut.

Laurel Diner, 544 Main St. South, Southbury, made the list due to its corned beef hash, cinnamon raisin French toast and BBQ bacon and onion ring burger.

The other diners that ranked highly from Connecticut were O’Rourke’s Diner in Middletown and Dottie’s Diner in Woodbury. Dottie’s Diner earned its spot on Urban’s list thanks to its home-made food and what he says may be the best homemade doughnuts in New England.

The chicken pot pie, meatloaf, pan-seared sea bass, vegetable risotto and lemon meringue pie also got his seal of approval.
