How Many Southbury Residents Have Received The Vaccine So Far?

State health officials released data on how many residents have been vaccinated for the coronavirus.

SOUTHBURY, CT — More than half of Southbury residents 75 and older have received at least their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new data from the state Department of Public Health.

Nearly 1,700 residents 75 and older received the vaccine as of Feb. 1. Nearly 3,100 residents in total, or about 16 percent of the town's estimated population has received the vaccine.

People eligible for the vaccine include frontline healthcare workers, long-term care residents and staff and people 75 and older. State officials project that residents 65 and older will be eligible to make appointments in a couple of weeks.

Frontline essential workers and residents with health issues that place them at greater risk for coronavirus complications are projected to become eligible for appointments in early March, according to DPH projections.
