Obituary: Eugene J. Dunscomb, 85, of Heritage Village in Southbury
Dunscomb served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired detective sergeant from the New York Police Department.

Eugene James Dunscomb, 85, of Heritage Village, died Monday, April 11th. He was the husband of Marguerite Dunscomb. Gene was born in New York City on Sept 6, 1930, son of James M and Margaret Conroy Dunscomb. He was a graduate of Fordham University, served in the US Army during the Korean War, was a retired Detective Sergeant from the New York Police Department and had a second career in security management at the American Craft Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury and a Secular Franciscan.
Gene loved art and was a talented artist whose portraits are hanging in the Babe Ruth homestead, Ford's theater, the Historical Society in Springs, N.Y. and the Honolulu police museum. He was a former president of the H.V. Brush and Pencil Club and served a number of years on his condo board. He loved his family and was loved in return.
He is survived by his bride of fifty-six years Marguerite Quinn Dunscomb, four children, John (Lucia), Eugene (Leslie), Alice and Andrew, granddaughters Erin and Kelly (Mike) Jackman, step-grandchildren Valerie and Peter Bueti, a brother James (Marion), sister Margaret Moore, brother-in-law John Quinn, sister-in-law Jane Dunscomb, niece Laura and nephew Richard Quinn and numerous additional nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law James Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury.
Calling hours: Thursday, April 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
