
George William Schuessler, age 88, of Shelton entered into rest on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Bridges by EPOCH at Hingham in Trumbull. He was the devoted husband of 30 years, together for 44 years to Dixie (Lee) Schuessler. George was born in Shelton on May 6, 1931, the son of the late Adam F. and Miriam M. (Zwoyer) Schuessler. Served & Honorably Discharged from the US Marines 1951-1954. He was the Deputy State Entomologist for the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven for many years before his retirement. George loved everything about nature and enjoyed being outside tinkering with his many collections of items. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. George was the beloved father of George W. Schuessler, Jr. and his wife Adrienne, Lynn Gerace, Daniel Schuessler and his wife Barbara, Thomas Schuessler and his wife Mona, stepfather to Richard Sherwood IV and his wife Deborah, Debra Fichtel and her husband Harold and Diana Wickman and her husband David, and brother of Lorraine North and uncle to her five children. He was the loving grandfather of Catherine Schuessler, Edward Jeracka, Gianna Gerace, Emily Schuessler, Erik Schuessler, Brandon Schuessler, Amanda Schuessler, Richard Sherwood V and his wife Christina, Michael Sherwood and his girlfriend Amy Patnode, Rachel Serrano and her husband Freddy, Jason Fichtel, Katherine Memolo and her husband Shawn, Kaitlyn Casey and her boyfriend Robert and Paul Casey, Jr. and his fiancé Emily and great grandfather of Avery Sherwood, Nathan Sherwood, Natalie Memolo and Makenzie Memolo. Due to the current pandemic health crisis his memorial service with military honors will be held at a future date to be announced for the public to support George’s Family. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Spooner House, 30 Todd Road, Shelton, CT 06484. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton is entrusted with his arrangements.
