PHS Students Recognized At The National Merit Scholarship Program

From Pomperaug Regional School District 15:

SOUTHBURY, CT - Three students from Pomperaug High School have been named 2017 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists and eight students have been named 2017 National Merit Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Henry Hu, Andrew Kelbley, and Hayley McClure were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. These students will be notified in early February if they have advanced to Finalist standing in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Commended Students from Pomperaug High School in the 2017 National Merit Program are: Jason Anderson, Sarmed Imadulla, Tanishq Kancharla, Rebekah Kennedy, Samantha Lee, Connor O’Sullivan, Elisabeth Turner, Austin Wang. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to the students.

All students scored in the top three percent of the nation on the PSAT given last year or the top 50,000 of 1.5 million test takers. Information about the National Merit Scholarship Corporation can be found at http://www.nationalmerit.org.
