Pomperaug High School Receives Votes in State Field Hockey Poll

Here is the latest weekly Connecticut field hockey coaches poll and there is good news for the local team.

Darien and Norwalk engaged in a close battle for the top spot in the latest weekly Connecticut field hockey coaches poll. Darien (8-0-1) garnered five of eight first-place votes to earn the number one ranking, while Norwalk (8-0) received the other three first-place votes to place second.

Enfield (6-0) moved up two spots to fourth in the most recent balloting. Here are the top 10 teams, plus others who received votes, with records through Oct. 4.

  4. Enfield (6-0)

  10. Avon (5-1-0-1)

Also receiving votes: South Windsor (6-1-1), Staples (7-1), Pomperaug (6-0-2), Wilton (6-2-0-1), Guilford (5-1-1).
