Two summer camp sessions are available. The first summer camp session is July 5th - July 23rd, 2021; the second summer camp session is July 26th- August 13th, 2021. Monitored school buses will provide transportation to and from Camp Mattatuck from designated locations in each of the districts. Buses are expected to depart each morning at approximately 8:00 am and return at approximately 5:00 pm each afternoon. You may register for one or both of the three-week camp sessions. There are 150 spots per session available.
Students will participate in structured STEM activities in the morning and enjoy Camp Mattatuck’s recreational facilities each afternoon. Students will be grouped by grade: Kindergarten to Grade 2, Grades 3 to Grade 5, Grades 6 to Grade 8, and High School.
“In a year that presented unprecedented challenges for our students and families, this is an exciting opportunity to continue learning, participate in hands-on engaging experiences to explore STEM fields, and to connect socially with peers; all while leveraging the resources we have in our area, ” said Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, Assistant Superintendent of Region 15 Schools.
Transportation, snacks, lunch and activities with trained counselors and staff are included as part of the grant funds.
“This camp pairs STEM activities with opportunities to experience the extensive outdoor recreational facilities that Camp Mattatuck offers. We are happy to host a program that blends learning enrichment with summer fun,” said Jeromy Nelson, Director of Fine, Applied, and Technical Arts in Region 15 / Director, Camp Mattatuck.
Camp Mattatuck will hold an informational webinar via Zoom at 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 1st to share additional information about the camp and to answer questions. The webinar will be recorded. The webinar and registration links will be available on each respective school district’s website, www.Region15.org, and on the Camp Mattatuck website: www.campmattatuck.org/school-stem-camp
Registration for the camp sessions will open following the webinar.
