MIDDLE SCHOOL CHILDREN HELP UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS GET READY FOR SCHOOL

Southbury, Connecticut – On Sunday, August 12th, a group of 13 children from Sacred Heart Church worked with the members of Covenant to Care to prepare 72 backpacks for students in the Waterbury area. Covenant to Care has organized the backpack collection at Sacred Heart for over 20 years, but it wasn’t until 2011 that the middle school students of the church started to participate in the annual collection. Prior to stuffing the backpacks, the items were blessed and the students prayed for the recipients to have a positive and constructive school year. The backpacks were donated to a DCF social worker who will distribute them to her clients.
