Southbury Considers Purchasing 41 Acres For Open Space
A Special Town Meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening to consider spending $239,000 to buy the parcel at 864 South Britain Road.
SOUTHBURY, CT — A Special Town Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in Southbury Town Hall to discuss a proposal for the town to spend $239,000 to buy 41 acres of land for open space.
The parcel is at 864 South Britain Road in Southbury, and it is currently owned by Cappen, LLC. If purchased, the property would be used as "permanently protected open space and passive recreation."
Both the Southbury Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen recommend the purchase.
