Southbury Man Allegedly Beat Woman, Hid in Woods Off I-84
Police K-9 located man, who now faces charges of assault and risk of injury to a child.

A Southbury man faces several charges after allegedly beating a female driver and hiding from police on the side of the highway.
Mark Lapke, 29, of Southbury, was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct on July 13 at approximately 1:09 a.m.
According to police, a female called 911 and reported that Lapke was beating her while she was driving down Interstate 84 east in Southbury. Troopers responded to the area after Lapke had left the scene on foot, but he was apprehended by a police K-9 in the woods off the highway. After a brief investigation Lapke was taken into custody.

Lapke was released on $7,500 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 15.
