Southbury Police Collecting Toys for Corvette Club Toy Drive
Troopers welcome the public to stop in and donate a toy and see more than 150 classic cars. And yes, Santa will be there too!
On Saturday, Dec. 6, Christmas and classic cars pair up in a unique partnership.
State troopers will meet up with Santa Claus and more than 150 classic cars at Bennett Motor Group on Route 7 (295 Danbury Rd.) in New Milford, travel down Route 7 to I-84 e/b in Danbury, and continue on to Troop A (90 Lakeside Drive, exit 14) in Southbury, where the toy drive will be held.
Troop A-Southbury is kicking off the 2015 State Police Holiday Toy Drive in grand style at 10 a.m.

This year marks the seventh year Troop A has partnered with various Corvette and classic car clubs of Western Connecticut, and Westchester and Putnam counties in New York.
In years past, people have donated 1,000 new, unwrapped toys which were distributed to those in need throughout Southbury, Danbury, Waterbury, and Naugatuck Valley, along with local hospitals.

Troop A will continue to collect toys up until Christmas Eve at the following locations:
- Oxford: 429 Oxford Rd.
- Roxbury: 29 North St.
- Bridgewater: 152 Hut Hill Rd.
- New Fairfield: 302 Ball Pond Rd.
- Sherman: 43 CT-39
- Southbury: 90 Lakeside Drive
At 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, Troop G of Bridgeport is participating in the 17th annual Korvettes for Kids Cruise in conjunction with Club Corvette of Connecticut.
At 11 a.m., troopers will meet Club Corvette of Connecticut and Santa at McDermott Chevrolet in East Haven and travel down I-95 to Troop G (149 Prospect St. in Bridgeport) where they will deliver the toys. The toys will be distributed to those in need throughout the Troop G patrol area.
Last year, 50 Corvettes delivered toys to Troop G. This year, they are hoping to add more Corvettes to the caravan, according to state police.
