Southbury Republicans Set Caucus

Candidate forum and political rally also slated for Republicans.

A caucus has been scheduled by the Southbury Republican Town Committee next month to select candidates for the November municipal elections.

A number of Republicans have recently declared their candidacy for various elected positions. At the upcoming caucus, on July 16 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, all Southbury Republicans will make the final choice as to which to endorse for municipal office.

“I hope that every Southbury Republican attends the caucus and helps select our official party endorsed candidates,” said Mark Cooper, Chairman of the Southbury Republican Town Committee. “There are many qualified candidates who are ready to run an issues based campaign once they receive the caucus endorsement”.

Cooper added that positions may still be open and anyone wanting to run for an elected office should contact the Republican Town Committee.

A Republican candidate forum will be held on July 10 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center where political hopefuls will field questions from the town committee members and the audience. The SRTC has also scheduled a political rally to give voters a chance to learn about the Republican candidates and their plans for office. The rally will take place at Ballantine Park on June 30 from 2 – 5 p.m.
