Swimmers From Pomperaug Win State Open Titles

Yale University played host to the CIAC boys swimming State Open championships Thursday evening.

NEW HAVEN, CT — For the seventh straight year, and eighth occasion this decade, the Greenwich High School boys swimming team breezed to victory in the State Open championships Thursday at the Yale University pool.

The Cardinals compiled 600 points to easily outdistance runner-up New Canaan, which had 480.5. Ridgefield, with 378.5, placed third.

A pair of swimmers captured two individual event titles. Connor Hunt of Ridgefield won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, while Ben Feldman of Westhill/Stamford was victorious in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.

  • 200 medley relay - Pomperaug (MacKellar, Regan, Moran, Quesenberry), 1:34.44
  • 200 freestyle - Connor Hunt, Ridgefield, 1:41.40

  • 50 freestyle - William Bryant, Ridgefield, 21.25
  • 1-meter diving - Kevin Bradley, Norwalk/McMahon, 512.95
  • 100 butterfly - Ben Feldman, Westhill/Stamford, 49.72
  • 100 freestyle - Charles Clark, Greenwich, 45.88
  • 500 freestyle - Connor Hunt, Ridgefield, 4:32.24
  • 200 freestyle relay - Greenwich (Lewis, Malchow, de la Sierra, Clark), 1:24.98
  • 100 backstroke - Colin MacKellar, Pomperaug, 51.10
  • 100 breaststroke - Ben Feldman, Westhill/Stamford, 57.26
  • 400 freestyle relay - Greenwich (Malchow, Merson, Todorovic, Clark), 3:08.05
