Thieves Steal 2 Cars Left Running, Unlocked In Southbury

Police located one stolen car and are searching for a second following two incidents Wednesday.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Police located one stolen car and are searching for a second. Police were dispatched to the post office at 710 Main St. in Southbury on Wednesday for a report of a stolen car.

The owner had left the car running with the doors unlocked while they ran inside. When they returned, the car was missing.

The car was then taken to First Steps Daycare at 1480 Southford Road, where the thieves stole a second car which had also been left running and unlocked in the parking lot.

Police later located the original stolen vehicle and are searching for a black 2016 Porsche Cayenne with Connecticut registration AU71871.

Police reminded the community to shut off their vehicles, take the keys, and lock their vehicles when leaving them unattended. Contact Officer Markette at (203) 264-5912 with any information regarding this vehicle. All calls will be kept confidential.
