Victim In Fatal Southbury Crash Served As School Administrator
The victim in fatal crash Friday night served as an administrator in an elementary school.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A motorcyclist who died following a crash Friday night had served as an administrator in Capitol Regional Education Council (CREC) schools, according to WFSB. Mark Kibby, 52, of Heather Lane North, died after he sustained serious injuries in a crash on Kettletown Road on Friday night.
A vehicle was traveling eastbound on Kettletown Road around 7:30 pm. and Kibby, who was on a motorcycle, was traveling southbound on Southford Road, police said. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, police said.
Kibby was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries, police said. He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Kibby served as the assistant principal of the CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School in Rocky Hill. He previously worked at the CREC Reggio School of the Arts and the CREC Aerospace Middle School, according to WFSB.
School officials remembered Kibby as "a responsive leader whose sense of humor and compassion helped to bring people together,” according to WTNH. His death was described as a loss for the school and the larger community.

CREC is making grief counselors available via Zoom for students and families Monday from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Those who need additional support can contact Carole Kerkin, Director Pupil Services, at (860) 729-9088.
The State Police CARS Unit responded to reconstruct the accident. This accident remains open for investigation.
