It is a dark and stormy and HILARIOUS night when the Monroe Family brings home an adorable, abandoned bunny from the movie theatre where they have just seen Dracula. When the fruits and vegetables in the house have their juices mysteriously drained out of them, Chester, the family cat and Harold, the family dog are sure that only one thing can be responsible- Bunnicula, the vampire bunny! Laughter and suspense follow in this musical romp as the pets attempt to rescue their family from the fluffy and fanged rabbit. The furry friends find room in their hearts, and in their home, for one very unique bunny in this spirited musical tale of mystery with a message of acceptance and understanding.

Auditioners will be required to read from the script for the various parts for which they are auditioning as well as demonstrating their ability to sing a basic tune. The available roles are found below:

HAROLD the personified DOG: male, any age (high school-adults are encouraged to audition for this personified role)
CHESTER the personified CAT: female, any age (high school-adults are encouraged to audition)
BUNNICULA the personified BUNNY: male/female (high school-adults are encouraged to audition)
ROBERT MONROE: the father 30's - 50's
ANN MONROE: the mother 30's - 40's
PETE/PETRA—their son/daughter, age 9-13 (could be cast as someone older- even an adult- who is able to emulate a child this age)
TOBY/TABITHA—their son/daughter, age 8-11 (could be cast as someone older- even an adult- who is able to emulate a child this age)
VETERINARIAN- (small cameo role)

(AUDITION NOTE: The four human members of the Monroe family are presented in a somewhat stylized way—as befits their function in the story from the animals’ point of view. The actors playing Harold and Chester will refrain from typical animal behavior. No barking, meowing, wagging, hissing, etc. - nothing that would render them undignified, or aware of their own animal natures. Instead, the subtlest “human” gestures or postures should be employed to suggest moments when the audience is reminded that they’re animals. But they never think of themselves that way. The same is true for Bunnicula whose entire performance is mimed. Actors portraying these roles will be posing with audience members for photos immediately after the shows.)
All are welcome to audition!
