“The farmers market not only fills a much needed access point to healthy food for Bristol and surrounding communities, but is also an opportunity for the city to showcase the potential of what Centre Square has to offer those who visit, work and live in the downtown area,” said Bristol Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu in a release.

The market is going to be on the other side of Hope Street this year, this is to accommodate returning and new vendors. Officials also said that the location would allow for free musical entertainment, food truck parking, corn hole games and picnic tables.

“Each week the farmers market attracts up to 1,000 people to the downtown area where they can shop for health food and locally-made products and then stay to enjoy food and drink from local businesses - whether it be from the food trucks at the market or the restaurants and two breweries in the area,” said Zoppo-Sassu.

Goods and foods anticipated to appear at the market include local produce, brewed beer and other locally produced merchandise.

“We are happy to welcome back vendors from previous seasons and excited to welcome new vendors as well,” said Bristol Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Dawn Nielsen in the release. “Providing a dedicated area for customers to enjoy food, free musical entertainment and a game of corn hole after shopping is an exciting new addition to the market this year.”

Parking will be available in the new square lot and along North Main Street or Riverside Avenue. The released stated more parking is also available at Bristol Health medical Center accessing Hope Street. Entrance to the market and parking will also be connected to Hope Street.

The market will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will continue every Saturday until October 30.

The farmers market accepts payment vouchers from the Woman, Infants and Children Farmers Market Nutrition Program and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture has certified all participating farms in the market, said the release.
