Bristol Man Critically Injured in Meriden Avenue Accident

Southington police are investigating the cause of a motorcycle accident that has left 56-year-old Joseph Pistilli in critical condition, and officers are seeking witnesses.

A 56-year-old Bristol man suffered considerable and serious injuries Monday night after losing control of his motorcycle on Meriden Avenue and sliding to a stop in the roadway near the intersection of Savage Street.

Officers are investigating the serious accident, which Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said left Joseph J. Pistilli in critical condition at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Police said Pistilli was traveling in the northbound lane of Meriden Avenue just after 9 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his 1994 Harley Davidson and wiped out, sliding to a stop along the roadway before coming to a stop just north of Savage Street.

A passing motorist came upon Pistilli and calle for help. He was then taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

The Southington Police Department Accident Investigation Unit responded and took over the investigation, Dobratz said. Any witnesses or those with information are asked to contact Officer Matthew Vose at (860) 621-0101 or by email at mvose@southingtonpolice.org.
