Car Burglars Ruin Snow Day Fun At Southington Park: Cops

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Snow day fun was ruined Tuesday by vehicle burglars at Panthorn Park in Southington, police said.

At 2:18 p.m., Southington Police responded to Panthorn Park at 485 Burritt St. to investigate damage to three vehicles, according to a report. Sever items were stolen from the vehicles as well.

The spree took place over the course of about 30 minutes, police said.

Police said driver’s seat windows were broken, and, in all three incidents, a purse was stolen from either a seat or in the rear of a sport utility vehicle, according to a report.

Police said 40 to 50 people were sledding less than 200 yards from where the incidents occurred, but no one reported hearing any car alarms or noted any suspicious noises.

A canine track ended in an adjacent parking lot, police said.

Among the items stolen were several bank/credit cards and cash, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident.
