Elderly Driver Killed In Southington Crash
A man was killed in a Southington vehicle crash but the dog in the pickup truck survived, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — An elderly driver was killed in Southington over the weekend in a single-vehicle crash, police said.
The crash took place Saturday at 1:58 p.m. along the 1200 Block of Meriden Avenue, police said.
A GMC Sierra pickup truck being driven by 73-year-old James Dicaprio was traveling north on Meriden Avenue toward the center of Southington, according t a crash report.

The GMC left the road, traveled across a lawn, struck a chain link fence, and came to rest up against a Lavorgna Oil truck, according to a crash report.
Dicaprio was later pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said. A 6-month-old doberman puppy who was in the truck appeared uninjured and was being cared for by Southington Animal Control, police said.
